A nice group of three (3) war-date letters written by Pvt. John J. Collier 6th Illinois Cavalry, concerning his regiment's arrival at the front and preparing for war at Lagrange, Tenn. in late February and March 1863. Collier enlisted in Company B, 6th Illinois Cavalry in late 1862. His regiment saw service throughout Tennessee and Mississippi at which time Collier was captured and sent to the South's infamous Andersonville Prison Camp. He died there on August 27, 1864 and is buried in the Andersonville National Cemetery in grave #6971. Expected wear, else VG. (3 letters).
