Confederate General Robert Ransom, Jr.'s wife writes Col. HENRY B. DAVIDSON, 1p. 8vo., Petersburg, Va., Oct. 2, 1862 concerning fears that her husband had been wounded during the battle of Antietam. She writes, in part: "I am truly obliged to you for your kindness in giving news of my husband. I was unhappy about him & started to him. I am happy to say I have heard from him and he is unhurt. Should you at any time hear of his being sick or wounded, please telegraph me…yours etc, Minnie H. Ransom." Negligible scrap album residue on verso, else VG.
