Federal soldier letter, written and signed by Isaac Oliver who mustered into "F" Co. PA 149th Infantry and died of disease on 6/27/1863 at Washington, DC. the three page letter is datelined Washington, February 7, 1863. In part, We have frozen times here ... everything is lovely with the soldier when the goose hangs high ... but thare is a good show for us to find out before long if this war is not settled for the soldiers that have bin out in the field ... they have done about all the fighting they will ever do ... and those that are in for nine months and those that are in for two years say that time is out in May and they will never soldier more as long as they are fighting for the nigers ..."
