A rare Civil War soldier's photographer related letter addressed to the image studio of Carr & Heald, Concord, New Hampshire by Pvt. Jonathan H. Batchelder, Co. B, 11th New Hampshire, 2pp. 8v., Pleasant Valley, Maryland, Oct. 9, 1962, reading in part: "I write to you for the purpose of obtaining those photographs I spoke to you about. Perhaps you remember I had one dozen taken & told you I wanted one doz. more. I bought an album of you & left .75 cts with you towards paying for the other photographs. Do you remember the circumstances? I don't know as I can do any better than this. I intended to call on you again but did not have time. If you can remember me well enough to find the negative please print one doz. for me & send the bill to me at Washington D. C. & I will send the cash. P. S. I have just found one of the pictures among the boys & will send it to you so you will have no difficulty in finding the negative. Our Lieut. [Isaac H. Morrison, WIA Fredericksburg, Va., 12/13/62 & Bethesda Church, Va., 6/03/64] got some taken for ten cts each - please send the pictures to Thos. J. Batchelder, Deerfield, N. H. -J. H. Batchelder, 11th Reg. Co. B, N. H. V. Wash." An original stamped transmittal cover addressed to his father is included. Near fine. (2 pieces)
