Book, “ Women of the war: their heroism and self-sacrifice, illustrated with steel engravings by MOORE, Frank, 1866, 596pp., Thick 8vo., green cloth lettered in gilt and red; edges gilt; with the slightest rubbing. First edition, first printing, with nine steel-engraved illustrations. Frank Moore was a notable American Civil War historian known for his portrayals of Civil War life and culture. One of his most important works was 'Women of the War'. While this work focuses primarily on the biographical accounts of individual women, Moore also describes the hardships and sacrifices made by American women during the war and provides an interesting account of how these women influenced Gettysburg.
