General Orders, 5" x 8", Department of the South, Morris Island, S.C., Sept. 15th, 1863, GENERAL ORDERS, printed under the authority of Brigadier General Commanding, Q.A. Gillmore. In small party, "It is with no ordinary feeling of gratitude and pride, that the Brigadier General Commanding is enabled to congratulate this Army upon the signal success that has crowned the enterprise in which it is engaged. Fort Sumter destroyed. .... Forts Wagner and Gregg ... wrested from the enemy ... To you the officers and soldiers of this command ... are due the thanks of your Commander and your Country ...."
