This Manuscript was either the original manuscript from which the broadside was published; or, it is the period- written from that published broadside. Written on four separate pages, it titled “Windham County Transcript, EXTRA, News from the Eighteenth”. Datelined Danielson, [CT], July 6, 1863, in part, “We received the following news from Stephen J. Lee ... who has arrived at Annapolis from Richmond ... you ahve probably had all the particulars of the battle of Winchester, Va of June 13th, 14th, 15th” ... The letter continues with 2-1/2 pages of casualty report .. “We opened and closed the battle losing very few killed and wounded. about 500 prisoners were taken-including Col. Ely...the killed and wounded from Windham County...are: Capt. Bates, Co. B, seriously wounded, left arm shattered, and wound in breast; was very low when we left Richmond...Stephen Oatley and G. W. Pickett, both of Co. G, killed...the following were parolled last night...Edger Amesbury...also Sergt. Maj. A. S. Granger...the following were left at Belle Isle...Jos. Armington..."
