This Limited Edition reprint is from the original Paul Revere copper plate, being number 1692 of 1950, numbered, copies, issued by the Imprint Society, Barre, Massachusetts in 1970. This lot consists of two items to include: The print, which measures 11.75" x 10.75", is loose inside the blue cloth cover book. This print was made from the original Paul Revere-engraved plate housed at the Massachusetts Archives Museum. The Boston Massacre (March 5, 1770), in which British soldiers fired without orders into a crowd of citizens, killing five people. The Paul Revere engraving depicting the event was published in the Boston Gazette and helped turn colonial sentiment against King George and the British. This stunningly detailed reprint, from one of Revere's original copper plates, would make a fine addition to any collection. ... plus, The blue cloth hardcover book, measures 11.25" x 12.25", 20pp. It was printed by David R. Godine of Brookline, MA and has an introduction by Richard W. Hale Jr., Archivist of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This is #291 of an edition of 1950 issues.
