Confederate Soldier's 2pp. letter written by C.B. Prentiss who mustered into "I" Co. SC 3rd Cavalry and also had service in "I" Co. SC 2nd Infantry . Datelined, Camp Charleston near Richmond, May 15, 1861, to his sister. In part, "The girls here are very pretty and sociable. I could stay here awhile. .. I went to church last Sunday & saw very many pretty girls. The prettiest go to St. Pauls. Ask father to look up the name of the Rector and send me an introductory letter to him ... one also to Governor Bonham ... I would like to get to know the elite of Richmond ... Our camp is now under Martial Law and no one can go beyond the line of sentinels without a special pass. ... I have a little sweetheart at Baptist Female College ..."
