The 3-3/4" x 3-3/4 mounted albumen was published by John C. Taylor in his "The War For The Union Photographic History". Beneath the image, the caption "3101 House where the Union officers were confined under fire, Broad St., Charleston, S.C." The clean image shows two men and a boy seated on the ruins of a wall in front of the O'Connor House at 180 Broad St. Over 50 Union officers were held as their army fired upon Charleston, prior to the fall of the city, February 1865.
