Margaret Junkin Preston (1820-1897) was an American poet and author. Margaret married John Thomas Lewis Preston (J.T.L.), founder of the Virginia Military Institute, in 1857. Margaret's sister Eleanor married a math professor from the Virginia Military Institute, Major Thomas J. Jackson. Autograph Document Signed "M(argaret) P(reston) November 20, 1880", 10-1/4" x 8-1/2", being a four stanza poem with a colorful vine. The reverse has a note "Copywrite reserved B E Whitney, Boston".
