A Confederate soldiers 2pp letter written by John K. James of "C" Co. SC Hampton Legion Infantry. James writes his father, August 28 (1862), in part "I am going to leave Tuesday morning for my regiment and as soon as I get back I will write you again and I want you to have Jasper (likely a slave) go to my house and do a little fence fixing for me...". Saw Bain as I come down and he told me it was at the ground.
