The 3-page Union soldier's letter was written by Elisha E. Clark who on 9/30/1862, mustered into "A" Co. ME 27th Infantry and was Mustered Out on 7/17/1863 at Portland, ME. The re-upped on 12/24/1863 as a Sergeant, mustered into "L" Co. ME 2nd Cavalry. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Marianna Florida on Sept. 27th 1864 and was paroled from Andersonville Prison in January 1865, and was discharged on 7/31/1865.
