Confederate soldier’s 1pp. letter written by George W. Jamison enlisted October 7, 1863 into the "H" Co. Virginia 24th Cavalry, and was captured Dec. 13, 1863, POW Pt. Lookout, exchanged March 1, 1865. Datelined: Petersburg, 3rd Jan. 1862, writing to his father. In part “This letter .. is to be sent by ‘Flag of Truce Boat’ from Norfolk and is limited by ‘Regulations’ to 1/2 sheet, so I just write to tell I am very well... The undersigned continues very hearty and intends seeking for employment in’The City of Seven Hills’ next week, of which I have quite a good prospect ....”
