Confederate soldier’s 1pp prison letter written by Fontaine Chesterfield Boston (Brother of Colonel Ruben B. Boston) who on 4/28/1862 transferred into "K" Co. Virginia 5th Cavalry. Listed POW 6/17/1863 Aldie, VA., exchanged 3/15/1864 Point Lookout, MD., POW 5/11/1864 Yellow Tavern, VA. Datelined Fort Delaware [Prison], April 17th 1865 to his cousin, Ms. Virginia J. Miller, Washington DC with original cover. In part, “ I have made known your request to Gen. Page and even showed him your letter but he declines to send his photograph. He informed me however that he would write to your sister in a few days ... I will enclose you a photograph of myself which my friends think a good likeness & in my next letter will send one to cousin Sallie. ... I am exceedingly anxious about Brother but can hear nothing from him. (His brother, Ruben B. Boston, was killed April 6, 1865,) ... F. C. Boston “
