Union Soldier’s 2pp. letter written by Henry McEuen Jones who at the age of 15, Henry ran away from home and enlisted in the on 10/1/1862,10th Missouri Cavalry in the Civil War but was taken prisoner, and held in the Cahaba Confederate prison in Alabama until the close of the war. No Dateline. Writing his family, he advises that he “is expecting to go out on another scout for thirty days ...” Advises his sister Rosie “I have been waiting patiently for any news from you ...”. On the second page, Henry draws a quill pen with encouragement for his family to write, Clever. ... plus, Printed Identification card with patriotic illustrations, issued to John. H.C. Jones. ... plus, Civilian 4pp. letter, likely written by Rosie Jones, to her brother. Datelined January 1, 1863. In part, “... you must write and let me know if there are any addresses down ther. If there is, if any of them have been hunted up and sent to the troubled Dixie. If they have not , they should be as speedily as possible for they will not get to see their glorious Confederacy before the throne of King Jeff is overthrown ...” And finally, a group of three paptriotic used covers.
