Union soldier’s 4pp. pencil letter on patriotic stationary sowing a vivandier giving aid to a wounded soldier, written by P(eter). L. Dumont who mustered into "A" Co. New York 146th Infantry, was listed POW 5/1/1863 Chancellorsville, VA (Paroled), and was Killed on 5/5/1864 at Wilderness, VA. Datelined Camp Seward, October 24, 1862, in part, “You know when I left the Children pretty sick and have thought of them all the time. ... Doctors don’t know beans .. the health of the regiment is very poor but is getting better. There is one case of typhoid fever ... I don’t think he’ll live. ... Our regiment has not left Camp Seward yet and I don’t know when we will. ....”
