Josiah Curtis, enlisted on 9/4/1861 as a Surgeon, on 9/4/1861, he was commissioned into US Volunteers Medical Staff Vols. and was Mustered Out on 10/31/1865. Endorsement “Yours truly, Josiah Curtis, Late Surg U.S.V. & Medical Director, D(irector) E(ast) T(ennesse),” on an unusual 4pp. reprint of articles From Brownlow’s Knoxville Whig. The subjects “Acrostic” Sept. 1864; “Dinner at the Hospital” January 11, 1865; “Presentation” March 31, 1865; and “Reply” March 31, 1865. The piece has Curtis’ library stamp, “J.Curtis, May 22, 1866.”
