A pair of authentic and complete issues of the Connecticut Courant, each 4pp., disbound, VG. February 27, 1805, from pg 3 under “Counting The Electoral Votes for President and Vice President.” we have the state-by-state count with Jefferson 162, and Pinckney 14. Interesting in that Aaron Burr was the President of the Senate and therefore two paragraphs are detailing his breaking the state seals and reading the actual votes. And, in a separate report of the Impeachment trial of Judge Chase, Burr is presiding over that trial is mentioned several times. ... plus, March 20, 1805, from the front page, running nearly 3 columns, we are presented with Thomas Jefferson’s Second Inuagural Speech with is signed in type. Jefferson celebrated the expansion of the country as a means of preserving and protecting the American Nation. “The larger our association, the less will it be shaken by local passions ... and in any view, is it not better that the opposite bank of the Mississippi should be settled by our own brethren and children, than by strangers of another family?”...
