A complete and authentic issue of The Herald of Freedom and the Federal Advertiser, Friday, May 8, 1789, disbound, 4pp., 10” x 16”. No. 16, Vol. II. “Printed in Boston every Tuesday and Friday by Edmund Freemand and Loring Andrews, opposite the North Door of the State House. Front page details the news of the Inauguration of George Washington as the first President of the United States. The article details the a report with a dateline May 1, “Yesterday the great and illustrious Washington, the favourite son of liberty, and delivered of his country entered upon the execution of the office of First Magistrate of the United States of America; to which important station he had been unanimously called the the united voice of the people….” The ceremony is details and his full inaugural address is printed. A nice copy.
