American Revolutionary War Period, Pair of English Flintlock Box-Lock Pistols, by Maker "WILSON," London, with Case, c 1770, Extremely Fine. This American Revolutionary War Era Pair of English Flintlock Box-Lock Pistols with each Pistol measuring 6.75" overall. They have 1.5", .42 caliber round steel turn-off barrels each struck with 2 early "Crossed Scepter" Proof marks. The steel box-lock frames have simple line Engraving and "Wilson, London". The bag shaped slab-sided wood stocks are solid and both have light scratches and dings from years of handling. Steel trigger guards. Top mounted sliding safety when moved forward in the half-cock position. Both Pistols are in their original Flintlock configuration and are in good mechanical working order. These Pistols are Housed in a quality period English Wooden Box that measures: 12" x 7" x 2.25" with correct thin English green baize lining (most likely restored interior). Key for front lock is lacking. Original Printed Label inside lid reads: "Guns & Pistols Bought or Exchanged Best Sporting Gun Powder J. BLISSETT, GUN MAKER. To His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex. / 321 HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON / Repository for New & Second Hand Guns & Pistols of the Most Approved London Makers / A Trial Allowed All Kinds of Repairs / Patent and Corrosive Caps & every Article necessary for Sportsmen. / DIRECTLY OPPOSITE GRAYS INN." Accessories Include a wonderful black leather covered powder flask, bullet mold, tow, lead balls, extra flints, turn screw, and wads. A very attractive set. (2 guns).
