MA 8th Infantry and was Mustered Out on 8/1/1861 at Boston, MA for promotion on 8/22/1862 he mustered into "E" Co. MA 38th Infantry and was Mustered Out on 6/30/1865 at Savannah, GA. The CDV is signed on the reverse, "H.E. Macomber, 2nd Lieut., 38 Mass Vols" and is backmarked A.D. Lytle, Baton Rouge, La.
