A great Civil War stereoview of a black contraband family fleeing bondage. Published by "The War Photograph & Exhibition Company, Hartford as part of their "War For The Union" series this image is entitled: "A Negro Family Coming Into the Union Lines." A forlorn black family sits before the camera with a mule drawn cart filled with refugees appears in the background. The man of the family no doubt served as a Union army servant as he wears a soldier's kepi. Near fine.
