The word "Unique" gets used quite often when describing material, even when there are more than one example....This piece is truly unique! The "Soldiers Daily Prayer", 3 ¾" x 4 ½", printed on lined paper, light age, else fine. The prayer is in the format of the "Lord's Prayer," but with completely different text. Makes reference to Lincoln being "Our Father"...."Our daily rations of Crackers and Pork"...."For thine is the POWER, the SOLDIERS, and NEGROES, for the space of TWO YEARS". At the top it reads "Not Ordered By The War Department," at the bottom it reads "’For use of Colonels, Captains, Sergeants, Corporals, Privates, ‘or any other man". I assume the "TWO YEARS" means enlisting for two more years. This handout was likely printed at a small shop, in limited quantities. This is the first, and only example, we have seen or know of. A great rarity.
