FRANKFURTER, Felix (1882-1965) was an Austrian-American lawyer, professor, and jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Frankfurter served on the Supreme Court from 1939 to 1962 and was a noted advocate of judicial restraint in the judgments of the Court. Typed Letter Signed "Felix Frankfurter" 1pp. octavo, June 26, 1940, on Supreme Court letterhead, addressed to Thomas McAllister, and reads in part: "...We seem to have difficulty in meeting again...Many, many thanks for those lines from the Cornhill Magazine which the recent days have only charged with more meaning in their distilled conveyance of a culture of nearly a thousand years that is inescapably our own culture, however, many there be who in their blindness or their wilfulness will deny it..."
