BEAUREGARD, Pierre Gustave Toutant (1818 - 1893) Confederate major general who initiated the attack on Fort Sumter which started the Civil War. Beauregard also led with great distinction at First Bull Run, Shiloh, and in the defense of Richmond. Autograph Note Signed "G.T. Beauregard, Gen'l Cmdg", in full "Col. Ionvan will please give as far as practicable, the information called for in this letter."
