Perhaps his best known writings were "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" ...plus, (2) Julius Hawthorne, backmark by D. Appleton and Charles Fredricks. Hawthorne served one year in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary ... plus, Victor Hugo, backmark by Bertall. One of his greatest is Les Misérables.
